Shine on Stage
Join us for our annual Summer Recital, where your child will have the exciting opportunity to perform in a professionally produced show in front of a live audience. Throughout the session, students will learn and practice their routines in class, preparing to take the stage in an auditorium complete with professional lighting, sound, and costumes.
This experience goes beyond performance—it helps build confidence through self-expression, encourages teamwork, and gives students a strong sense of accomplishment as they work toward and achieve their goals.

Costumes
Costumes for each class are age-appropriate and made with high-quality materials.For specific costume details and fees, please ask our front desk staff during class time.
Costume Care:
To keep costumes organized and performance-ready:
- Label all items with your child’s name (costumes, shoes, tights, accessories)
- Store costumes in a garment bag with the name clearly visible
- Place accessories in a clear, labeled plastic bag
- If there is a sizing issue, please contact the front desk for assistance
Costume Tips

- Store hats in a box or container to prevent damage

All ballet, tap, and jazz classes require studio-approved shoes and tights to maintain a consistent look.

Tights Guidelines
To ensure consistency in color and style:
- Students must wear the same tights specified for their class
- Tights are available for purchase at the studio
- Purchase new tights for recital
- Do not wear or wash tights before dress rehearsal or performance
- Always keep a backup pair for emergencies
Shoe Requirements
- All tap shoes must be strap-on (no laces allowed)
- Shoes must be clean and in good condition
- Worn or dirty shoes are not permitted
- Black ballet shoes are not allowed unless specifically approved by the instructor

Girls:

Hair Requirements
All dancers must follow uniform hairstyle guidelines:
Female students:
- Hair in a bun or French braid
No bangs or beads
Short hair:
- Pulled back and slicked away from the face
Costume & Accessory Rules
- Do not add accessories (bows, ties, bun covers, etc.) unless instructed by the teacher
- Label all items clearly: costumes, shoes, tights, and accessories
- Use a permanent marker (e.g., Sharpie) to avoid lost items

Costume Rules

- Only wear costumes for Picture Day, Dress Rehearsal, or Show Day
- No perfume on costumes

Dress Rehearsal
Why It Matters
Dress rehearsal is mandatory and helps performers:
- Build confidence on stage
- Learn spacing, cues, and transitions
- Get comfortable in the venue
Arrival
- Arrive 60 minutes before curtain time
- Come dressed in your first costume
Etiquette
- Respect others’ space and belongings
- No outside food or drinks allowed
- Water and light snacks will be provided in designated areas
Guests
- Only one parent/guardian per student
- Non-participating siblings should stay home
- Additional guests must purchase a ticket
Drop-Off & Pick-Up (Rehearsal)
Drop-Off:
- Students are checked into dressing rooms and supervised
- Parents must leave once check-in is complete
- Late arrivals may not be permitted backstage
Pick-Up:
- Students are released after completing all routines, including finale
Show Day Information
Arrival
- Dancers must arrive 1 hour before showtime
Example Call Times:
- 1st Show: 10:00 AM
- 2nd Show: 1:00 PM
Important Notes
- Students remain backstage for the entire performance
- Parents cannot access dressing rooms
- Pick-up occurs in the lobby after the finale
Picture Day
- Location: Studio (details provided via email)
- Arrive at least 1 hour early
- No obligation to purchase photos

Volunteer Information
We welcome and appreciate anyone interested in volunteering backstage during recital weekend. A sign-in sheet will be available at the studio for those who would like to help.
What to Expect
- All volunteers must attend a mandatory orientation
- Volunteers are required to follow all policies set by Fox Studio of Dance & Gymnastics
- Recital weekend can be fast-paced and busy—teamwork and cooperation are essential
- Please follow the guidance of our backstage managers, who are there to ensure everything runs smoothly
Volunteer Requirements
- An identification badge will be provided at dress rehearsal and must be worn at all times in the theater
- No guests allowed backstage, including children
- Volunteers must remain backstage for the entire show
Backstage / Class Moms
We are seeking Class Moms for each class to help supervise dancers backstage.
Benefits
- No recital ticket required
- Ability to watch your child perform from backstage
Responsibilities
Class Moms play an important role in keeping everything organized and running smoothly. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring all dancers are safe and accounted for
- Helping dancers get into the correct costume, shoes, and accessories
- Making sure dancers are ready and backstage at the correct time
- Escorting dancers back to their assigned dressing room after performing
Volunteer Requirements by Class Size
The number of volunteers needed depends on the number of students in each class:
- 1–9 students: 1 volunteer
- 10–19 students: 2 volunteers
- 20+ students: 3 volunteers
If a class has more volunteers than needed, you may be asked to assist with another group.
Important Reminder
All backstage volunteers, including Class Moms, are required to:
- Remain backstage for the entire duration of the show
- Follow all instructions from backstage staff
- Maintain a supportive and professional environment for all performers
